I have a hard time believing in prophets. As a boy from the age of 5 I was raised as a Jehovah’s Witness. I read their “bible” know it pretty well. One of the things I was told was “No man knows the day or hour of the coming of the Lord. Anyone who does and it doesn’t come true, turn away from them for they are a false prophet.”
So when in 1974-75 the Elders were announcing that Armageddon was coming I was13-14 and was told not to think of my academic future prepare for Armageddon, I was scared. 1975 came and went. No Armageddon. I knew they were false prophets. The excuses they gave were many. It destroyed my trust in religious organizations. I kept my belief in God but didn’t have a faith home for many years. God led to a home where I know they walk in the Lord. However when I come across anyone that claims to be a prophet I have serious doubts and now I’m questioning if I’m missing an important thing here. So I min heavy conversation with God asking for the Holy Spirit to guide me through this. My wife has recently started watching Amanda Grace and this triggered a bad reaction from me that kinda caught me off guard. She was speaking in a was I didn’t understand and way too fast which I didn’t think was right. Now I’m trying to navigate this whole Prophet thing again which led me to you. Your the first one I felt to dive into and comfortable enough to leave you this message. If you want to respond to this feel free to do so.

Thank you for your honesty and vulnerability in sharing a bit of your story. I will send it to Troy to read. It can definitely be a scary thing to be approached by prophecy, or someone who claims to have a prophetic gifting, especially if you have had negative experiences in the past. Troy and his team definitely encourage being cautious of what anyone tells you, and to lean deeply into the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to test the words you hear. I am praying that the Lord gives you direction and peace in taking the words that are from Him, and letting anything else fall to the side.
