Jesus never gave up, and because of that, you don’t have to either. God never promised to fix all of our problems in a heartbeat, but He did promise to walk with us through every situation—no matter how dark it may seem.
The good news is that our determination and perseverance are not meant to be based on inspiration alone. Yes, Jesus went through hell for us, but the knowledge of His sacrifice alone is not what gives us strength. The finished work of Jesus on the cross provides you and me with an opportunity to trade our own righteousness for the righteousness of God. We do that through placing our faith in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Here’s why this fact is so amazing: when we have the righteousness of God, we can also be filled with the Spirit of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 says:
“He [God the Father] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
It’s not up to our flesh to make it through the trials and difficulties of life. It’s up to the Spirit of God living in us—and He never fails. If you are battling hopelessness, don’t rely on your own strength to make it through. Place your belief completely in the finished work of Jesus. Continue to believe that His words about Himself are true. Don’t give up.
